Captain Justin Scharaldi
Captain Justin’s love for fishing started on the Jersey shore. Ever since he could remember, him and his father would go out to target striped bass and flounder. Justin spent all of his free time fishing before and after school. Fast forward to high school Justin spent all of his summers in Long Beach Island, New Jersey and worked as a mate on a sport fish boat that focused on offshore fishing. Throughout his lifetime Justin’s family would regularly go on vacations to the Florida keys, at age 12 he landed his first big tarpon. Ever since that day Justin knew what his dream was. At 17, he moved to Key west full time to chase his dream of being a charter captain.
When it comes to being impressed with your guide, Captain Justin has easily won every opportunity the last few years. Captain Justin constantly receives emails, texts and phone calls about his trips. Clients are so impressed with his calm attitude, super clean boat and exceptional fishing gear. He has run more than 328 trips in 2025 alone, constantly keeping his clients super happy. ,Captain Justin was trained by the best in Key West and has improved on that experience like no other. Super Trip!
I had the privilege of fishing with Captain Justin at Live Action Sportfishing, and it was hands down one of the best charter experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, Justin made the trip unforgettable.
We started off with permit fishing, and after I landed my first one, Justin gave me the option to move on and target something new. When I asked what he would do, he suggested we stick it out just a little longer. That decision paid off, I hooked into a trophy 31” permit weighing 20 pounds. Easily a fish of a lifetime.
From there the action just kept going. Over the course of the day I caught two solid permit, a snook, and a tarpon, an incredible lineup for a single trip. Justin’s knowledge of the local waters, his ability to read conditions and his skill in putting me on the fish were second to none.
What really stood out, though, was his professionalism and easygoing nature. He runs a clean, well-equipped boat and has top-notch gear ready to go, but he also brings the kind of energy that makes the trip feel like you’re fishing with a buddy who knows exactly where the fish are.
If you’re looking for a serious fishing experience with the chance to chase bucket-list species, I can’t recommend Captain Justin and Live Action Sportfishing enough. I’ll be booking with him again, this trip set the bar sky-high!
